Ensuring the Future of St. Joseph's Retirement Community
The St. Joseph's Retirement Community Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established to support St. Joseph's mission of providing affordable housing and services to the elderly. Through your generosity you can partner with the Foundation to provide compassionate care for your elderly neighbors. A local volunteer Board of Directors sees to it that donations are well managed and used effectively for the benefit of St. Joseph's residents. While unrestricted gifts often benefit the most residents on an on-going basis, you can also choose to support one or more specific areas of need:
Charity Care Fund
For more than 100 years, St. Joseph's Retirement Community's mission has been to provide housing and services to the elderly, regardless of their financial situation. St. Joseph's has long accepted Medicaid as a payment source, although Medicaid often does not cover the entire cost of housing and services provided to the resident.
On average, 22% of St. Joseph's residents receive Medicaid funding to support their stay here. The Charity Care Fund enables St. Joseph's to bridge the gap between the government aid provided to Medicaid residents and the actual cost of rent and services provided by St. Joseph's.
Capital Improvements/Maintenance
St. Joseph's Foundation supports new and replacement items and construction which improve our ability to give excellent care and to maintain a home-like setting. As in many areas of life, advances in equipment and technology continually improve our ability to care for residents.
The Foundation has provided funding for improvements such as the new Dining Room Addition which enables all the residents to eat together at one time; the Lifeline Call System which is worn by the resident and provides a great measure of safety; and automatic door openers for the front and back entrance.
Chapel and Spiritual Care
The Foundation has helped provide for the upkeep and maintenance of the Chapel itself, as well as providing a Chaplain's stipend.
Above all else, spiritual opportunities for our residents comprise the greatest comfort we can give them at this point in their lives.
Staff Educational Grants
These grants from the Foundation help our employees achieve completion of certification and degree programs to ensure that our community is staffed with qualified caregivers.
The educational grant is an important tool we can use to attract and keep quality staff in today's competitive healthcare job market.
