Dear Patron of St. Francis Memorial,

As the holidays approach, I am writing to ask for your support of your community hospital. We exist to serve all of our communities and surrounding rural areas with the best emergency, routine, surgical, wellness and rehabilitation care possible. Your family and friends deserve to have the best possible healthcare without having to drive to get it.

Your support, and that of other donors, has helped make St. Francis Memorial a thriving, independent, Top 100 community hospital in the nation! St. Francis Memorial was also just named as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital for the 4th time in the past five years. These awards would not be possible without the support of people like you.

We are purchasing two items this year. The first is a new blood coagulation analyzer for our lab that will be used to perform Protimes, APTTS, D-dimers, and Anti-heaparin Xa tests.

  • Protimes – we have over 200 patients taking the oral anticoagulant Coumadin.
  • APTT – montitors the effectiveness of heparin therapy.
  • D-dimer – test that aids in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis (clots) and pulmonary embolism (clot).
  • Anti-heparin Xa – monitors patients on heparin undergoing various treatments including surgery

We are also purchasing a Dynavision system that helps patients who have suffered strokes, traumatic brain injuries and/or upper extremity injuries. Only 500 hospitals of the approximately 6,000 in the United States have this amazing equipment. We even posted a video of the Dynavision at:

Your tax deductible gift will help us provide the safest, highest-quality lab and rehabilitation care for our community. Your help provides care for hundreds of patients now and in the future – whether they face an urgent need, a critical diagnosis or seek to improve their overall health and quality of life.

Medical advances occur every day and our goal is to stay at the leading edge of healthcare. Your hospital provides help, healing and compassionate care for all patients that seek our services, regardless of their ability to pay.

Please give generously to the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Annual Fund Drive. Your gift makes a world of difference for our community, we promise you!

Very truly yours,

Larry Kampschneider

Blood Coagulation Analyzer

The STA Compact Max is a fully automated laboratory hemostasis workstation capable of performing clotting, chromogenic and immunological assays simultaneously. Most importantly, it creates “results” physicians and patients can count on. This state-of-the-art “coagulation analyzer” will help our patients on blood thinner medications make sure they are taking the appropriate blood thinners and help diagnose patients with blood clots in their veins or lungs. Over 3,800 lab visits for our Coumadin clinic occur every year.

The Dynavision is a visuomotor and cognitive   assessment/training system which may help patients to improve hand-eye coordination, reaction time and reaction speed.  This device will help to benefit our patients with visual deficits, assist with driver retraining and for patients during their physical rehabilitation following stroke, traumatic brain injury, and upper extremity injury.  The ultimate goal for using the Dynavision with our patients is to improve their safety, eye-hand coordination, peripheral awareness,       cognitive processing ability, visual reaction time, balance, and much much more.  Only 500 hospitals in the USA have Dynavision!
